What you’ll be doing

We are seeking an AI Product Engineer to drive the integration of advanced AI technologies into our Learning Technologies products. This pivotal role bridges the gap between AI research and practical product implementation, requiring a blend of technical expertise and business insight.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in AI and machine learning, with the ability to translate complex AI concepts into actionable product features. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including software developers, product managers, and learning specialists—to design, develop, and deploy AI solutions that enhance our innovative products.

Key responsibilities

AI Integration and Development
● Design, develop, and integrate AI models and algorithms into our products.

● Collaborate with software engineers to implement AI solutions in production systems, ensuring scalability and efficiency.

● Continuously assess and improve the performance of AI models through rigorous testing and optimisation.

AI Research and Analysis
● Conduct ongoing research into emerging AI models, large language models, and applications relevant to Learning Technologies.

● Evaluate new AI technologies and assess their potential to meet business and user needs, staying informed on industry trends, competitive landscapes, and best practices.

● Document AI workflows, including data collection, preprocessing, model development, and deployment, for easy reference and continuous improvement.

Product Strategy and Innovation
● Identify opportunities to leverage AI technologies to meet business and user needs.

● Propose and prototype new AI-driven features that align with our product and business goals.

● Stay updated on emerging AI trends and technologies to inform product development strategies.

AI Implementation Catalyst
● Collaborate with internal teams to initiate and pilot AI integration ideas, assess their effectiveness, and adapt strategies as needed.

● Act as a central point of expertise for AI-driven innovation within our Learning Technologies products.

Collaboration and Communication
● Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful AI integration.

● Communicate complex AI concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

● Provide training and resources to upskill team members in AI technologies.

● Compile research findings in structured, accessible reports and present insights to stakeholders to support strategic decisions.

Business Strategy
● Evaluate commercial models for AI tools and services, considering their business impact and alignment with our product strategy.

● Build and manage partnerships with key AI vendors and researchers to advance our capabilities in alignment with business goals.

● Act as a representative of the company in the AI community, engaging with industry players and building a professional network.

What we’re looking for

Technical Expertise

●  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.

● Proven experience in developing and deploying AI/ML solutions.

● Proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.

● Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, natural language processing, and large language models (LLMs).

● Familiarity with MLOps practices and version control systems. 

Back-End Engineering Skills
● Strong back-end engineering skills, particularly in Python or Node.js.

● Willingness to upskill in Node.js/TypeScript if your primary experience is in other back end languages.

Product Development Skills
● Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.

● Experience integrating AI models into software products.

● Strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking. 

Full-Stack Development

● Experience with React and front-end web development is a plus. 

Communication Skills

● Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

● Capacity to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

● Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration. 

Self-Starter Attitude

● Ability to work independently and lead projects from conception to completion.

● Passion for staying current with AI advancements and emerging trends.

● Adaptability to evolving technology and business needs.

Desirable Skills

● Experience with cloud platforms like AWS.

● Understanding of data structures and software development practices.

● Prior exposure to the Learning Technologies sector or workplace learning technology.
