What you'll be doing

Thrive is rapidly expanding, and we’re introducing the role of Engineering Manager, a critical leadership position that combines technical expertise, team management, and delivery ownership.

You will lead and mentor a talented team of Front End and Back End Engineers while working closely with the Product team to shape and deliver an impactful technical roadmap.

Key responsibilities

Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead, mentor, and coach a multidisciplinary team of Front End and Back End Engineers.

• Conduct regular 1:1s, set clear technical and professional development goals, and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.

• Build and maintain a thriving engineering community, encouraging knowledge sharing and cross-team support.

Technical Delivery and Accountability:

• Work closely with the Product Owner to define, plan, and deliver the technical roadmap.

• Ensure alignment between engineering and product goals, driving the successful execution of projects on time and within scope.

• Provide technical guidance to the engineering team to deliver scalable, maintainable, and high-quality solutions.

• Support squads during sprints, ensuring smooth delivery of front-to-back-end features and incremental improvements.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

• As an Engineering Manager, you will be jointly accountable for delivery and roadmap planning with the Product Owner.

• Act as a key bridge between engineering and business stakeholders, ensuring transparency, alignment, and effective communication.

Best Practices and Innovation:

• Drive the evolution of Front End and Back End development best practices, ensuring robust approaches to estimation, development, and testing.

• Champion CI/CD practices, automated testing strategies, and scalable architectures.

• Proactively identify and address opportunities to improve processes, tools, and team performance.

What we're looking for

Essentials

• Proven experience in leading and managing multidisciplinary software development teams.

• Expertise in Front End technologies like React, Redux, and TypeScript, alongside Back End development in Node.js.

• Strong experience in delivery ownership and roadmap planning in collaboration with Product teams.

• Solid understanding of scalable API design, microservices, and architecture.

• Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Jest) and focus on end-to-end testing.

• Familiarity with databases, including NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Elasticsearch) and relational databases.

• Comprehensive knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Agile software development methodologies.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly in cross-functional environments.

• Comfortable working in a remote, distributed team environment.

• A proactive mindset, with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

Desirable skills

• Experience working with enterprise-grade SaaS platforms.

• Familiarity with REST, GraphQL, asynchronous messaging, and data formats like JSON.

• Understanding of cloud infrastructure and services (e.g., AWS, CloudFormation).

• Appreciation of DevOps principles and containerization technologies like Docker.
